Well, I personally survive on anemoia for the time I lived on a ranch in Alberta when I was four years old and I'm grateful to you for giving me a word for it.

I prefer conservatism as described by Coolidge some 100 years ago. Basically, Conservatives wish to preserve what is worth conserving.

I also like to think liberals wish to advance ideas that would provide for “ a more perfect Union.”

Wish it were that simple. Instead, factions want power for the sake of power.

This is certainly true if you confine your definition to the purely political. And politics is always about power, hopefully the power to implement your vision, rather than simply power for the sake of power. This is why I've tried in this piece to expand the two categories to the cultural, philosophical, and personal.
